Warrant singer Jani Lane dead at 47

TMZ reports that Jani Lane, former lead singer of the heavy metal band Warrant, was found dead in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The gossip site says that the singer's body was discovered at a Comfort Inn motel in Woodland Hills

As of yet, no official cause of death has been released or determined.

While with Warrant, Lane penned several Top 40 hit singles: "Heaven," "Down Boys" and "Sometimes She Cries for the band's debut disc "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich" which peaked at number 10 on the billboard 200. He also penned their signature tune "Cherry Pie," as well as "I Saw Red," and "Uncle Tom's Cabin."

After some personal and business squabbles, Lane left the band in 2004. In January 2008, Lane rejoined. It was the first time that all original members had been in the band since 1992

In 1991, Lane married model-actress Bobbie Brown, who most may remember from the "Cherry Pie" video. The pair had a daughter before divorcing in 1993. In recent years, he was arrested twice on DUI charges and he ended up serving time in jail.

Lane also became involved in acting in the early '90s. He made a brief appearance in "Caged Fear," and also appeared in "High Strung" in 1991. In 2005, Lane was featured on VH1's reality weight loss show "Celebrity Fit Club 2."
