And yet, Shulman’s managed to fly under the radar. Below, four things to know about the perpetual princess’ Prince Charming:
1. He’s also an actor. He starred in the short-lived TV drama “American Dreams” in 2005 and played “Youth Voter #1″ in a 2006 episode of “The West Wing.” He majored in theater at Brown University, from which he graduated in 2003.
2. He designs jewelry. Shulman co-launched a jewelry line, James Banks, earlier this year. The James Banks website currently features a “Lightkeeper” necklace for $1,100 and a handful of butterfly necklaces for $200 to $700. He also reportedly had a hand in designing Hathaway’s Kwiat engagement ring.
3. He caught her by surprise. In August, Hathaway told People magazine that Shulman caught her off guard. “I am very much in love with him, [only] Adam totally ruined my plan,” she said. “I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!”
4. He’s “mellow.” “Mellow doesn’t always make for a good story, but it makes for a good life,” Hathaway told Harper’s Bazaar earlier this year. She added that the couple “hit it off immediately, but it took us a pretty long time to get together.” No wonder she eased into it: Before Shulman, Hathaway dated Italian entrepreneur Raffaello Follieri, who pled guilty in 2008 to swindling investors out of millions.
