Among all the African-American actresses here, I am biased to Halle Berry because she is an epitome of beauty and acting.

Halle Berry is a beauty queen, fashion model turned actress and is one of the highest paid actress in the Hollywood. She is beautiful and a very good actress. She gained Oscars award for her film Monsters Ball. Other award giving bodies which gave recognition for her work are the Emmy, Golden Globe, Golden Raspberry, SAG and BAFTA. I like her in the film Monster Ball and X-Men: The Last Stand too.

Berry received an Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG, and an NAACP Image award for the movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. She is, as of 2009, the only African American woman to have won the award for Best Actress at the Oscar.

2. Angela Bassett

She portrayed Tina Turner in the movie “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and I liked her role there. She received an award for her debut role in that film too. She is the only African-American woman to win an award for a musical or comedy. She also played the role of mother of Michael Jackson in the television series ‘The Jacksons: An American Dream’. She is good in her performance in the movies; Betty Shabazz in the film Malcolm X, Panther, Rosa Parks in the film “Rosa parks Story” and her performance in the film “Notorious“. She started her career starting 1986.

Whoopi Goldberg is a multi talented actress-comedian, singer, song writer and a co-host of “The View”. She is the First African American woman in 1994 to host the Academy Award. She won an Oscar, Tony, Emmy and Grammy, and by that alone she stands out as one among the best. Her first film was in 1985 “The Color Purle” and she played the role of Celie, and was nominated for Best actress in Oscars but she lost, but then she won the same for Golden Globe award. She appeared in “the Ghost” movie winning best supporting actress in the Golden Globe. I like her in the “Sisters Act“, “Made in America” and “How Stella got her Groove“, :Girl Interrupted” and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

4. Queen Latifah

Just like Whoopi Goldberg, she also won different awards given by Golden Globe award, Grammy and Academy award nomination. She is a singer-rapper, actress and have been honored to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was already very famous when she was cast as Mama Matron in the film Chicago. She received an Oscar nomination for Best actress in a supporting role. She is a hip hop artists too and she is one of the two to received any nomination in Oscars for the same film “Chicago” in 2002.

She also starred in the films “Bringing Down the house“, “Scary Movie 3“, “Barbershop 2“, “Beauty Shop“, “Hair Spray” and “Last holiday“.

Jada Pinkett Smith Aside from being a wife to Will Smith this pretty lady is a mother of two and a hardworking woman. She is an actress, singer-songwriter, producer, director, model, author, businesswoman and they have charity together with his husband.

She started her career in 1990, in a film “True Colors“, “A Different world“, “The Nutty Professor“, “Menace II society” and “Set it Off“. She has appeared in more than 20 films in a variety of genres, and gained wider recognition for her roles in the films like Ali, “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolution“.

I like her as she stood by her husband and their marriage is a model to many people specially in Hollywood.
