Kylie Minogue loves wrinkly rockers
Kylie Minogue believes rock stars lik Rolling Stones, U2, get cooler the "more wrinkly" they get.

Kylie Minogue believes rock stars get cooler the "more wrinkly" they get.

The 44-year-old superstar believes rock musicians have an easier time than pop artists because they don't live with the constant expectations to reinvent themselves to follow modern trends or be young.

She said: "With rock artists, the more wrinkly they are the cooler they are! The Rolling Stones, U2, they're the greatest and they're still doing it and that's incredible. I guess you've got Barbra Streisand as well. I love to see older performers still going at it. Tom Jones is probably the one for the UK - just to be on 'The Voice' every week, and still have more energy than most younger artists."

Kylie isn't convinced she will be able to sustain her pop career in 60s or 70s like 72-year-old Tom has.

However, the 'Flower' singer - who marked 25 years in the music business this year with a slew of releases, including 'The Abbey Road Sessions' - is keen to keep on making records.

She added to website Popjustice.com: "I don't know what I'll be doing at that stage. My friends all scoff - they say, 'come, of course you'll be doing something'. So we'll see."

Kylie Minogue wants Donovan duet
Kylie Minogue is desperate to perform 'Especially For You' with Jason Donovan.

Kylie Minogue is desperate to perform with Jason Donovan.

The singer was meant to team up with her former boyfriend to sing their 1998 single at the 'Hit Factory Live' concert but the outdoor event - due to be staged in London's Hyde Park - was cancelled because of safety fears due to bad weather.

This week, it was announced the show has been rescheduled to take place at the city's The O2 venue on December 21 and Kylie is hopeful of joining Jason on stage.

She said: "I felt for people when it was cancelled. It was so touching, the level of excitement.

"We did the rehearsal two days before and Jason and I looked at each other and realised we had never done it live as it was released back in the mime days of 'Top of the Pops'.

"We have done it live three times in rehearsals but that's it.

"They've revamped the show and I've said, 'I'f I'm available, I'll be there.' If it doesn't happen now, it'll be something to look forward to."

However, Kylie admits she has a very busy few months coming up.

She added to the Daily Star newspaper: "My schedule to the end of the year is making me cross-eyed - I'm all over the place."

Kylie Minogue says it's a "dream come true" to be headlining this year's BBC Proms in the Park.

The 'All The Lovers' singer will be the star performer at the annual event in London's Hyde Park on September 8 and she says she can't wait to get on stage.

She said: "I'm delighted to be performing at one of the UK's most outstanding nights of the musical calendar, and to sing in front of thousands of people whilst being accompanied by the legendary BBC Concert Orchestra in such a special year is truly a dream come true."

Proms in the Park is the annual 'Last Night of the Proms' spectacular broadcast live on BBC Radio 2. It is now in its 17th year, and is Britain's largest outdoor classical music event and a rousing finale to two months of the BBC Proms.

Il Divo, Alfie Boe and Bjorn Again will also play while Radio 2 DJ Tony Blackburn will host the early evening entertainment for the first time, followed by Sir Terry Wogan.

Proms in the Park fans across the UK are able to tune in to the concert live on BBC Radio 2 or for selected coverage by pressing the Red Button during the Last Night of the Proms on BBC TV. The concert will be available on BBC iPlayer for seven days after the event.

Also on the bill at the Proms in the Park are The Gypsy Queens, a band of former buskers who formed in Nice, France, and have since performed for stars including Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Quincy Jones and Prince William.

Tickets are on sale now via bbc.co.uk/promsinthepark and by phone from See tickets on 0844 209 7353.
